A few veague complications did arise mostly having to do with my inablity in cutting straight lines but all in all I pat myself on the shoulder…

The idea being pretty obvious, this thing is just an intro to the kinds of art pieces and other such things that I’ve done for this year as well prior years. This is where my skill level is really at in terms of creativity. It’d be nice to be able to… When people ask what kind of stuff I can do, It’d be nice to just be able to pull out this thing and go “blam!” (If there was one onomatopoeia that I got stuck with for the rest of my life I think it might be “blam”) As oppose to… Uh well its sort abstract stuff, bright colours, though I don’t neccessarily always stick with that, I love see how realisticly I can paint stuff too. I don’t like oil because I’m an impatient painter so I stick with acrylic for the most part anyway… blahblahblah. And you can see people’s attention span waning.

So this is what I’m thinking the cover will be. I’m not hugely fond of it. I don’t like how obviously cut out looking it is. Underneath “sam’s” I’m thinking of having a strew of verbs(?): sense of being, thoughts, opinions, emotions, life… (well maybe it won’t be that much of strew considering I can’t actually think of anything else right now) but the last word will be an emboldened ART. Sounds fudging DEEP. I’m now envisioning people thumbing through the book, pursing their lips and going: “huh, interesting.”

I had to wear that thing for an animal themed b-day party. Its the only shot I have that gets the best of that tucan head. I’m am damn proud of it. Tucan Sam. ha.

BLAM. YES. I LOVE how big and red and clear that is!

however, there are areas of improvement that could be improved on.

1) the logo. Not happy. just out-of-place looking.

2) why is the A so big?

It’s amazing how you possible it is to get out of the habit of doing something.

And the then you start hallucinating about having done something when really you haven’t. Or maybe that’s just me. Sometimes I unintentionally terrify myself by the wondering if I’m developing premature Alzheimers. AHH.

Okay so the concept was to create an ant people utopia… but these shots are crap and didn’t come together well sooo~ I reshot it. And redid stuff.

So, I’ve always had a hard time having any appreciation for what is abstract art. Some of it is just stupid. And I don’t buy the reasoning ‘it’s got to take guts to be able to call something like that art.’ But then again some of probably shouldn’t even be classified as being abstract art.

Does anyone take perception sciences? A topic came up recently about how far you go to call something art. At one point in 1990 some artist decided he was going to drop a brick strapped to a canvass on a rat called ‘Snuffles.’ His reason had to do with the fact that Snuffles was a specially bred rat for reptiles to eat anyway so he was far better of dying by means of brick squishing. To this artists surprise (he was surprised?), Vancouver was in an uproar and Snuffles was saved to live 2 more years and died as a result of breathing difficulties.

The odd story aside. I do have a favorite abstract artist. He’s Russian. He’s dead. He lived 66 years ago. And you can’t not have gone to an arts history course and not have heard of him before. Wassily Kandinsky. Apparently he had a form of synesthesia (a brain disorder that causes you to have involuntary sensory reactions to things…) which basically meant that when he heard different pitches in music he would see blotches of colour. Quite literally, he painted music. I got the chance to got to the Pompidou art museum in Paris and saw some of his stuff. My reaction? This is insane. I love it. I wish I had synesthesia.
